For business accounts, the following documents are needed before opening the account:

Corporations

  • Articles of incorporation – a document that states the primary rules governing the management of a corporation that has been filed with the state or other regulatory agency
  • Federal Employee Identification Number (EIN); If you do not have one, you can apply for one at  www.IRS.GOV
  • Your business status must be listed as “active”, “current” or “in good standing” on the Secretary of State website at www.MAINE.GOV 
  • Identification documents for all Authorized Signers

Sole Proprietorship or DBA’s with SS #

  • Same identification requirements as for an individual account

Sole Proprietorship or DBA’s with EIN #

  • Same identification requirements as for an individual account
  • Federal Employee Identification Number (EIN); If you do not have one, you can apply for one at  www.IRS.GOV
  • Identification documents for all Authorized Signers

Limited Liability Company (LLC)

  • Federal Employee Identification Number (EIN) or if LLC is owned by a single individual, your security number may be used
  • Articles of Organization –  a document that outlines the initial statements required to form an LLC at the State level
  • Your business status must be listed as “active”, “current” or “in good standing” on the Secretary of State website at www.MAINE.GOV 

Partnership Accounts

  • Partnership Agreement
  • Federal Employee Identification Number (EIN); If you do not have one, you can apply for one at  www.IRS.GOV
  • Your business status must be listed as “active”, “current” or “in good standing” on the Secretary of State website at www.MAINE.GOV 
  • Identification documents for all Authorized Signers

Organizations/Associations

  • Federal Employer Identification Number (Federal EIN) of the corporation sponsoring the Club/Organization
  • A recent letter from the sponsoring organization indicating that the club/organization authorized to open the account
